The Power of Education: Building Futures in Luweero
Together with Concern for the Girl Child (CGC), we created a film about Nuuruyat. We filmed in Luweero, Uganda, with a small crew and let Nuuruyats story and that of the community unfold in their own environment, at their own pace.
Nuuruyat shared her story in her own words, supported by Carol, a CGC alumna who serves as living proof of what education can change. By keeping the production small, respectful, and local, we created space for honesty, hope, and the power of education.

The challenge
CGC is committed to providing access to education and skills training for girls in rural areas. But to build a vocational school—a place that can change generations—they need support. How do you tell the story of one girl so that donors not only understand the impact of education but also feel it?
The challenge was not to present numbers, but to show the human reality behind education: how one school can transform thousands of lives.
Watch the video
For this project, we created one powerful fundraising film that follows Nuuruyats journey and highlights CGCs vision for the Hayes Vocational Learning Centre.
Impact
The film is used in CGCs GoFundMe campaign and donor communications. By focusing on real experiences, the video helps donors understand what their contribution means: not just a school, but a future.
The portraits remain part of CGCs long-term communication and contribute to trust, engagement, and action.
About the Collaboration
For this production, we took on the full process: from preparation and local coordination to interviews, translation, and post-production. We worked with CGC Uganda and their partners, with local organizations and translators playing a crucial role.
Filming took place in Luweero, in locations that were sometimes difficult to access. Together with local crews, we organized interviews, translations, and subtitling so that the story could be captured carefully and respectfully.
Despite logistical challenges, the collaboration was open and constructive. The trust built during this project resulted in a film that creates real connection.
Case Overzicht
Why this project inspired us
This project with CGC was intense and inspiring. We met Nuuruyat and Carol, two women with different lives but the same hope. Their stories showed what education truly means: not just knowledge, but strength, opportunities, and a future.

The trust we received to get close, listen, and capture their words felt like a great responsibility. Together with CGC and local partners, we worked with care and respect, always aiming to tell real stories that make people feel and act.

This project reminds us why we do this work. Because real stories are not statistics. They are lives.
